Kugeln aus Siliziumnitrid zeichnen sich durch hervorragende Eigenschaften bezüglich Glätte und Härte aus und sind wegen der geringeren Dichte viel leichter (58 %) als Stahlkugeln. Dadurch ist der Energiebedarf für den Antrieb geringer.
Doch vor allem das geringe Gewicht führt zu einer längeren Lagerlebensdauer und mindert die auf die Laufbahn einwirkenden Zentrifugalkräfte. Auch der Materialverschleiss ist deutlich geringer, was die Lebensdauer des Lagers massgeblich verlängert. Ein weiterer Vorteil ist die wesentlich höhere zulässige Drehzahl von bis zu 50 % und somit die Möglichkeit, langlebige Lager in anspruchsvollen Anwendungen mit hohen Drehzahlen einzusetzen, wie beispielsweise bei Werkzeugmaschinenspindeln oder Turbomaschinen.
CeramicSpeed Insulate Kugellager eignen sich für hochwertige Elektromotoren und schützen vor Schäden durch Streuströme. Die für diese Produktfamilie verwendeten Keramikkugeln sind nichtleitend und haben ein Isolationsvermögen von 15 kV pro mm. Dieser Wert ist höher als übliche Luftleitwerte.
Niedriger Energieverbrauch
Im direkten Vergleich von Lager zu Lager hat das CeramicSpeed Hybridlager eine um 48 % geringere Reibung als vergleichbar grosse Stahllager von anderen Markenherstellern. Bei einem Elektromotor führt diese Verringerung der Lagerreibung zu einer messbaren Steigerung des Gesamtwirkungsgrads des Motors und damit zu einer Verringerung des Energiebedarfs und der CO2-Emissionen.
Nicht leitende Kugeln
Herkömmliche Lager mit einer isolierenden Beschichtung haben normalerweise ein Isoliervermögen von bis zu
1 kV, sofern die Beschichtung nicht beim Einbau des Lagers beschädigt wird. Solche Lager sind daher anfällig für Schäden durch Streuströme. Die für diese Produktfamilie verwendeten Keramikkugeln sind nichtleitend und haben ein Isolationsvermögen von 15 kV pro mm, das ist höher als bei üblichen Luftleitwerten.
Die geringe Betriebstemperatur von bis zu 10 – 20 °C bietet weiteren Schutz vor elektrischen Durchflussströmen. Dadurch erhöht sich die Lagerlebensdauer 4- bis 8-mal im Vergleich zu herkömmlichen Stahllagern.
