Protective coating, numbering for cut strip cores

The cutting band cores we supply are all coated in black protective paint. The core halves are numbered consecutively in pairs to prevent the cores from being mixed up and to avoid incorrect assembly of the individual core halves.

Art.-Nr.
Packaging of cut strip cores

The cut strip cores are placed in plastic trays without the core halves touching each other. Several plastic trays are combined in cardboard boxes.

Special cutting band cores

Cut strip cores that do not comply with the HWR, SE, SU, SM, HWE and S3U standard series can also be manufactured to customer specifications. It is also possible to equip cores with several cuts. Ask us – we will be happy to advise you!

Ring belt cores

Ring band cores can be supplied either uncoated or with an epoxy resin coating. Coating with epoxy resin allows the core to be wound directly without fitting protective caps.

The cores are made of grain-oriented electrical steel strip wound in the direction of the grain orientation, resulting in the lowest specific losses (lower than 1 W/kg at 1.5 Tesla for various types) with the best permeability, both at low and high inductances. The above-mentioned properties therefore allow the manufacture of devices with high performance, minimum material volume and shortest assembly time, thus saving costs. Thanks to the special impregnation with epoxy resin, the cutting strip cores are compact and resistant to bending on all sides and therefore resistant to mechanical vibrations, despite high magnetic inductions (up to 1.7 Tesla) and working temperatures of up to 120°C.

The cut strip cores can be used in transformers and chokes of all kinds (in air and oil, in open design), transducers, magnetic amplifiers for the electromechanical industry, for telephony, electronics, radio and television.

If they are of good quality, they offer the following functional and economic advantages over traditional punched sheets:

  • Reduction of total losses in watts/kg by 40%
  • Increase in work induction B (Wb/m2) by 30%
  • Reduction of the magnetizing current l0 from 70 to 75%
  • Volume and weight reduction of the transformers by 30%
Magnetic performance

In order to be able to guarantee the performance data of our cutting band cores in accordance with guarantee numbers C5-110 and C5-111, all cutting band cores are tested with a maximum induction Bmax corresponding to 17,000 gauss (1.7 Wb/m2) and a frequency of 50 Hz.

Standard C5- 110

Total losses less than 2 watts/kg. Magnetization idle power not greater than

Standard C5-111

The cutting band cores of this design are particularly suitable for transformers with high power ratings

  • Total losses lower than 1.8 watts/kg
  • Magnetization empty power not greater than

The following tables show the maximum power values of the various core types, in optimum application, i.e. for the construction of transformers or chokes with 2 windings (one primary and one secondary or equivalent winding). At higher voltages (several thousand volts), insulation conditions between the windings and from the windings to the core must of course be taken into account, which reduce the available winding space.
