Silicone tapes, self-amalgamating, Arlon and MOX-Tape®

These self-amalgamating tapes are made of specially formulated silicone rubber

manufactured. They weld together inseparably and create an insulating barrier that is resistant to moisture, oxygen, ozone and the corona effect over a wide temperature range (-54°C to +260°C).

They have excellent electrical insulation strength with a dielectric strength of at least 12 kV/mm at 180°C.

Special properties

  • Resistant to moisture, oxygen and ozone1
  • Adapt perfectly to even complex shapes
  • Self-welding at room temperature within 24 hours
  • No stickiness to the touch and no adhesion to surfaces or substrates
  • Insulate with a single winding and thus reduce labour time and costs
  • Damping vibrations
  • Withstand heat and mechanical shocks as well as the corona effect
  • Non-conductive ash formation in case of fire. Correspond to flame test according to FAR 25.853

Applications

Electric

  • Insulation and sealing of electrical connections
  • Insulation of coil down conductors and busbars in the power distribution system
  • Electromagnetic coil insulation
  • Motor connections
  • Banding of worn insulation in electric motors
  • Underground cable separations

Mechanical

  • Protection of coils against vibrations
  • Bundling of cable harnesses in high-temperature applications
  • Corrosion protection e.g. for metal pipes
  • Alternative to heat-shrink tubing and electrical adhesive tapes in the electrical sector
  • Reliable sealing of all hoses and cables in the automotive sector
  • Sealing water pipes, heating pipes, compressed air lines
